Wind Mitigation Inspection
in Benton & Central Arkansas
A wind mitigation inspection documents the features that help your home stand up to high wind, documented for your insurance company. Both of our inspecting owners are InterNACHI® Certified Wind Mitigation Inspectors, and we are based in Benton, AR 72019.

Certified by InterNACHI®, performed by an owner
Bobby and JD both earned the InterNACHI® Wind Mitigation certification in August 2026 (34 credit hours). The person on your roof and in your attic is an owner of the company, never a subcontractor.
What a wind mitigation inspection looks at
Six parts of the house decide how it holds up when the wind gets under it. We inspect each one from the roof, the attic and the outside walls, and photograph what we find.
Roof covering
What the roof is covered with, its approximate age, and whether the covering is the kind rated to stay on in high wind.
Roof deck attachment
What the roof deck is made of, and the size and spacing of the nails or fasteners holding it to the rafters or trusses. Seen from the attic.
Roof-to-wall connections
How the roof framing is tied down to the walls: toe nails, metal clips, or straps that wrap over the framing. This is what keeps a roof on in a strong uplift.
Roof shape
Whether the roof is a hip roof, sloping down on all sides, or has gable ends. Hip roofs generally hold up better in high wind.
Secondary water resistance
Whether there is a sealed layer under the roof covering that keeps water out of the house if shingles blow off.
Opening protection
How windows, entry doors, garage doors and skylights are protected against wind and wind-borne debris.
Why Arkansas homeowners ask for one
Central Arkansas sees severe thunderstorms, straight-line winds, hail and tornadoes. When the wind lifts a roof, it is the deck nailing and the roof-to-wall connections that decide whether the shingles go or the roof goes. A wind mitigation inspection puts those hidden details on paper.
What your insurance company does with a wind mitigation inspection depends on the carrier and your policy, so ask your agent what they need before you book. If you are buying, you can add a wind mitigation inspection to your home inspection and have both done on the same visit. It is priced alongside a residential inspection: call (501) 249-4481 for a price, or see our pricing and services.
Wind mitigation and FORTIFIED: how they fit together
They look at many of the same things, the roof deck, its nailing and the edges, but they answer different questions.
Wind mitigation inspection
Records what is already on the house, at any time, for your insurance company. Nothing has to be built or changed first. Done by either inspecting owner.
FORTIFIED evaluation
Documents a re-roof or new build against the IBHS FORTIFIED standard while the work is open, and IBHS issues the designation. Bobby is a credentialed FORTIFIED Evaluator. Call before the roofers start.
Planning a new roof? Read about FORTIFIED evaluations before you sign with a roofer.

Wind mitigation questions
What is a wind mitigation inspection?
A wind mitigation inspection documents the features that help a home resist high wind: how the roof covering and roof deck are attached, how the roof is tied to the walls, the shape of the roof, any secondary water barrier under the covering, and how the windows and doors are protected. It describes the house as it stands today.
What do I get at the end?
A record of your home’s wind-resistant features for your insurance company, supported by photographs of what was inspected. Ask your agent what they need from it before you book.
Will a wind mitigation inspection lower my insurance?
That depends on your carrier and your policy. Some carriers give credit for the wind-resistant features the form documents. Ask your agent what they accept and what it could change on your premium before you book.
Who does the inspection?
An owner of A-Team Home Inspectors. Both inspecting owners, Bobby and JD, are InterNACHI Certified Wind Mitigation Inspectors, so the inspection is performed by an owner and the form is completed correctly the first time.
Is a wind mitigation inspection the same as a FORTIFIED evaluation?
No. A wind mitigation inspection records what is already on the house, at any time. A FORTIFIED evaluation documents a re-roof or new build against the IBHS FORTIFIED standard while the work is open, and IBHS issues the designation. Bobby is a credentialed FORTIFIED Evaluator, so we can help with both.
Can I add it to my home inspection, and what does it cost?
Yes. A wind mitigation inspection is priced alongside a residential inspection, so you can have both done on the same visit. Call (501) 249-4481 for a price.
